Dear Finley,

You’re not even born yet, but I already love you so much. And yet I know that the love I have for you cannot compare to the love your mom and dad have for you. Crazier still, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that the incredible love they have for you could never ever compare to the love your Father has for you.

I cannot wait for you to join our family. We have known about you for almost nine months, and each month the anticipation has built. Your dad could call me at any moment to tell me that you are about to be born. I just want you to know that I’m not always this addicted to my phone. But love and anticipation makes people do crazy things like getting up in the middle of a quiet church service to answer a phone call or leaving your phone by your head as you sleep just in case. I love sleep, but I love you more.

Sometimes I imagine what will you be like. Will you have your dad’s craziness or your mom’s reason? Will you run around the house, imagination racing? Will you be shy and quiet? Either way, you will be beautiful and lovely and a Berkey. I cannot wait to meet you, to see your little fingers and toes. I can’t wait to hold you and play with you, to see if you have dimples. I can’t wait to hear your voice, to hear you sing.

So, Finley Sophia Berkey, you can come soon. Your family has so much love to give. You are so incredibly loved and we don’t even know you yet.

Love,

Aunt Kate
